MOTIVATION: The importance of having a vision

A vision is the ability to see through or beyond your current reality. A vision is the thing inside of us that guides us and creates a desire to grow and improve. A vision embodies our hopes and ideals. A vision comes from the heart, not the head. Thus one should not try to think their way to a vision. To create an exciting and compelling vision, you have to give yourself the freedom to listen to the voice within and to use your imagination to see and feel what does not yet exist in the physical world. A vision is not the same as goals or objectives. Goals and objectives come from the head. A vision comes from within. A vision comes from the heart.

A vision allows you to move with confidence towards something that others may regard as impossible. Steve Jobs is an example of an exceptional person who had a vision. He had a vision about how certain consumer products should look like. He then spent the rest of his life pursuing this vision.

Having a vision has the effect of giving you a reason to wake up each day. Your vision will pull you to work towards it every day. Without a vision, a person’s life has no sense of purpose. They are merely going where the wind takes them. People without a vision end up helping other people fulfillvision-quotes their visions. It is thus important for you to have a vision about all aspects of your life. From your finances, to your health and even your academics. It’s important as a student to have a vision about your academics, regardless of your current level of understanding of the subjects or marks.

You must start imagining a future where you are successful beyond measure on your subjects. This will give your studying a sense of purpose and direction. It will also ensure that you have a plan of what you are going to study each day. You will then spend more time on your vision, and less on idle tasks. A vision thus provides focus.

As important as having a vision is, a vision without a plan of action is practically useless. Upon establishing what your vision for your studies is, you then need to spend time thinking about the things that you can do to achieve that vision. You have to start thinking of the things you can do on a regular basis to bring the vision into life. Doing this will cause your vision to move from the unseen world to the seen world!

  1. After reading this article, I decided to not waste time during this festive season. Instead of sitting around waiting for January to start studying for the subjects I want to do next year, I will start today. It reminded me of a quote i once read “A vision is not just a picture of what could be. It is an appeal to our better selves, a call to becoming something more”

I like what you said,”This will give your studying a sense of purpose and direction. It will also ensure that you have a plan of what you are going to study each day. ”

I sure have a plan on how i am going to study each day, no matter how challenging the module is.

  2. Nice article

Got me motivated and i wish I had read it earlier before 2016 got this far.

But I’ll definitely apply it in 2017
